BHC: Now we’re ready to learn a little bit more about Jacqueline Fountain the person. For example, who are your favorite inventors, and why?
JF: I don’t really have a favorite, though I do admire the late Bishop W.C. Hunter. He was always inventing things and inspiring others to fill the needs that they saw in the community.
BHC: Yes, he had an amazing body of work. For those who never got the opportunity to meet Bishop W.C. Hunter, The Black History Channel is planning to salute him and his many inventions in an upcoming article. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, please tell us how you feel about your finished product? Is it everything you wanted it to be?
JF: We love it, but like most inventors, we already have some improvements we’d like to see. For example, we want logos printed on the cups…that sort of thing.
BHC: What do you want to ultimately happen with your product?
JF: We definitely want to see it used internationally. We want to see it in every doctor’s office, in drug testing labs, in health clinics. In other words, we want to see it all over the world.
BHC: That’s a fantastic goal and we wish you the very best as you pursue it. In the meantime, what’s next on your “to-do” list?
JF: [laughing] We do have a couple more inventions that we’re working on, but I won’t go into those right now. We’ll wait until we’re further down the road before we talk about them. In the meantime, I converted one of my children’s bedrooms into an office and that’s where I work.
