RLorraineABOUT RITA LORRAINE HUBBARD

This is my first nonfiction reference book. I began researching African American presence in Chattanooga and the surrounding Hamilton County area in 2003, and the research stretched on until the book was published in 2007.

My goal was to revive the thriving African American community of yesteryear and highlight the impact these people had on the city, the county, the state and the nation.

DID YOU KNOW that Chattanooga is the home of the oldest student in the nation, the first African American to serve as lead counsel in the Supreme Court, and the African American whose lynching launched Federalism? It’s true! This book is a treasure chest for historians of every race.
