Abdul Badi was born in Washington DC but grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended Manhattans’ High School of Art and Design and Mercy College of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He’s worked as a draftsman and illustrator in the U.S. Marine Corps. Has also worked in the commercial art field and taught art. He has won prizes and recognition in many juried art shows and sold numerous works. He works in both oils and Pastels and is known for his vibrant portraits of 3rd world peoples, particularly Africans.
