This song by Sam Cook -- My Change is Gonna Come --has to be one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs in all of history.  It debuted in 1964 shortly after the death of singer-songwriter Sam Cooke, and had all of America mesmerized by the vocals and spooked by the thought that Mr. Cooke had somehow predicted his own death.

According to Biography.com, which is part of The Biography Channel, "The year after his death, Sam Cooke's record company released A Change is Gonna Come, a civil rights anthem he wrote in response to Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind."

Despite the song's official purpose, the public -- well aware of Sam Cooke's personal struggle with fame and women -- continued to believe the words were a self-reflection on his personal life.

There are many websites that delve into the life and untimely death of Sam Cooke, including these:

My Change is Gonna Come

I was born by the river
In a little tent
And just like the river
I've been running ever since

It's been a long, long time coming
But I know a change gonna come
Oh, yes it will

It's been too hard living
But I'm afraid to die
I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, long time coming
But I know a change gonna come
Oh yes it will

I go to the movie, and I go downtown
Somebody keep tellin' me "don't hang around"
It's been a long, a long time coming,
But i know a change gonna come
Oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
I say brother help me please
But he winds up knocking me
Back down on my knees

There's been times that I thought
I wouldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come
Oh, yes it will
