Hello History Lovers,
This will be a short post indeed, but I just wanted to include this wonderful documentary about one of our early medical pioneers -- Dr. Eliza Ann Grier.
Dr. Grier was and is truly an inspiration. She began her life as a slave, and when emancipation came, she immediately set out to better herself. She thought to go into the profession that most African Americans dreamed of: teaching. However, seeing white physicians taking all the money for the procedures that African American midwives and medical personnel were actually performing made her aspire for more.
